The doorway between our foyer and kitchen was an ugly sight for quite some time.  The trim has been torn down ever since the early demolition stage.  See below:

The doorway to the right of the picture is the one that I’m talking about.  After we installed our kitchen cabinets, we realized that the drawer in the cabinet, when fully pulled out, would be hindered by a piece of doorway trim.  This dilemma made it so this project was put on hold for far too long….  until a month ago, atleast.  After receiving inspiration from a house full of subtle archways in the Jackman’s house, Russell decided that this was the solution to our problem.  An archway meant that we didn’t need to put trim on the door frame.  No trim meant that we could still use the drawer inside of the kitchen.  Problem solved!

It took Russell a bit of researching and strong determination but he eventually crafted a beautiful and symmetric arch into the top of the door frame.  This is now our view every time we walk in our front door:

  1. i love it!

  2. WOW! it looks fantastic – architectural digest material, in fact.

  3. WOW!!!! GO CAPPS, GO!!! It looks incredible!
